• What are some resources on implementing Universal Design for Learning (UDL) in my classroom?

  The Teaching and Learning Center (TLC) has resources as well as expertise in pedagogy design and implementation. Contact them anytime for support at teachingandlearning@ontariotechu.ca. 

• How can I encourage students to advocate for themselves both within and beyond the classroom?

  When students arrive at Ontario Tech, they work with Student Accessibility Services (SAS) to develop a process for implementing their accommodations. There are transition programs such as MyStart:Accessibility that help students develop these advocacy skills for the classroom. 

• When should students connect with instructors about accommodations?

  Students should connect with instructors at the very beginning of their course; however, should circumstances change the instructor and student can connect with Student Accessibility Services (SAS) to determine the best course of action to ensure academic rigor and accessibility. 

• How do I get additional support?

  There are multiple units on campus that are dedicated to supporting accessibility for our students, staff and faculty. Explore the Contact page of this website to determine who you should connect with to navigate existing resources and expertise on our campus.
